Catherine Bott presents a concert given at Poole's Lighthouse by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra under principal conductor Kirill Karabits, who conducts Benjamin Britten's orchestral portraits of the sea off the Suffolk coast. The orchestra is joined by Steven Isserlis for a rare performance of Kabalevsky's Second Cello Concerto, a work that owes much to his Soviet contemporaries Shostakovich and Prokoviev. The concert ends with Dvorak's Eighth Symphony, a lighthearted work that draws much of its inspiration from Bohemian folk music.
