The BBC Philharmonic Orchestra performs works by Russian composers for the ballet and opera stage in a concert given at Manchester's Bridgewater Hall. The music of Prokofiev's Scythian Suite was extracted from ballet music composed for Diaghilev's Ballets Russes as was Stravinsky's more famous Rite of Spring.
