Open Gardens - Series 2 - The Look Out and Brynheulog

Series which follows people's attempts to have their gardens accepted into the National Gardens Scheme. Budding garden designer Jackie Mitchelmore is hoping that her spectacular coastal garden overlooking the exe estuary in Devon has what it takes to be accepted into this year's Yellow Book. A two-acre garden with lots of interesting nooks and crannies, it has winding paths that lead you alongside the beach. The garden is also full of lots of quirky coastal objects - such as driftwood posts and buoys. In Glamorgan, natural-health therapist Lorraine Rudd has only been at her garden for 18 months. She is determined to create a garden to fit in with her spiritual ethos. Set amid the dramatic scenery of the Neath Valley, this hillside garden reflects the natural beauty of its surroundings. Lorraine grows everything from trees to alpines and orchids to tropical waterlilies. For Jackie in Devon, being by the seaside has given her problems with plants that can survive the elements. On top of this, there are areas that are complete health and safety hazards. She has a huge amount of work to get things sorted. Can Carol steer her in the right direction? Lorraine's Glamorgan garden has one major problem, its immaturity. There are lots of bare patches of grass and great areas of bare, ugly fence that need to be covered quickly. What can Carol suggest to help Lorraine get accepted into the Yellow Book?
