The Cypress Mountain course is a demanding one and requires not only great speed from the competitors, but considerable acrobatic skills too. Current Olympic champion Sylke Otto has retired, but German dominance of the event looks set to continue. Germany enjoyed a clean sweep on the podium in Turin four years ago and any one of their team has strong claims for gold once again. South Korea's Kang-Seok Lee, who won the world championships in Vancouver last year, is another one to watch in a highly competitive field. Commentators: Hugh Porter and Wilf O'Reilly. 2.50 The figure skating pairs competition reaches its conclusion at the Pacific Coliseum. Reigning champions Tatiana Totmianina and Maxim Marinin have now retired, leaving the way open for a new couple to enjoy Olympic glory.
