In one of the Free Thinking festival 2008's 'Daniel in the Lion's Den' sessions, philosopher John Gray, author of the bestselling Straw Dogs and considered to be one of Britain's most original thinkers, risks the wrath of recyclers everywhere by suggesting to an audience that to think that we can 'save the planet' is absurd or even dangerous. To meet the challenges of the future, Gray argues, we need to look to technological fixes - including some that 'greens' fear and reject.
