In a special programme recorded in front of an audience at the Free Thinking Festival in Liverpool, a panel including playwright Alan Bleasdale and veteran producer Michael Wearing re-examine one of British television's most celebrated dramas, Boys from the Blackstuff. First shown in 1982, it was a remarkable hit, with catchphrases and characters that caught the mood of the nation at a time of high unemployment and social unrest.
