New Year's Day Concert - 2011 - Highlights

Highlights from the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna, where the Vienna Philharmonic gave the annual celebratory concert of waltzes, polkas and marches, led by the Austrian conductor Franz Welser-Most. There is music by four members of the Strauss family as well as pieces by their Viennese contemporaries Lanner and Hellmesberger, plus music by Liszt to celebrate the bicentenary of his birth. The Vienna State Opera Ballet dance to some of the music at iconic Viennese locations and the concert is introduced by Petroc Trelawny.
