Local Hero was the small British film that asked the materialistic, money-obsessed 1980s to take a long hard look at itself and decide what kind of future it wanted. In the movie, the inhabitants of a fictitious Scottish fishing village are seduced by the big-bucks of an American oil company, but ultimately forced to confront the potential cost of getting rich quick. And behind the scenes, there was a constant struggle for the soul of the movie between a Hollywood studio and two of British cinema's brightest talents, producer David Puttnam and writer/director Bill Forsyth. Peter Reigert, Denis Lawson, Peter Capaldi, Alex Norton and Jenny Seagrove recall the making of this classic movie.
