An NHS survey has found children as young as eight being admitted to casualty. Over a five-week period, almost 650 children were admitted to Scotland's A&E departments and 15 of them were of primary school age. Dr Bill Morrison, a consultant in emergency medicine who chaired the project, has warned that the country is facing "social meltdown" in a decade unless Scotland gets to grips with binge drinking among the young.
