Should we be practicing wage restraint to protect the economy? Mortgages and rents are increasing, fuel prices and food bills are going up and the official figures tell us inflation is running at over three percent. Those are the kinds of pressures which make us all look at our pay packets and, inevitably, workers start demanding pay increases in line with inflation. However, the Chancellor Alistair Darling says pay rises need to be "consistent" with the 2 per cent inflation target. Is he right? Plus: Would free food vouchers help you give up smoking? In Dundee they're launching a scheme where people in some of the city's poorest areas will be offered grocery vouchers as an incentive to stop smoking.
