Should human organs be donated automatically? The Prime Minister Gordon Brown is supporting changes to the organ donation system which could allow organs to be taken automatically from dead patients, unless they had opted out of the scheme. He's calling for a national debate on what's called "presumed consent", saying the move could save thousands of lives. Figures suggest that 800 Scots are currently waiting for a donor organ.
