Portsmouth hosted Newcastle, the club with whom manager Harry Redknapp was linked with in January. Fulham enjoyed a rare win against Reading earlier in the season, and were looking to complete the double over the Royals at the Madejski Stadium. Tottenham were looking for their fourth consecutive home victory over Middlesbrough while Bolton met West Ham at the Reebok Stadium.
