It is Roy Hodgson's first league game in charge of the Reds following his switch from Fulham. The Englishman worked wonders at Craven Cottage on a limited budget. However, expectations at Anfield are far higher, even though the club missed out on Champions League qualification last season. Arsenal's third-place finish in 2009/10 meant a fifth consecutive season without silverware for manager Arsene Wenger. The Gunners won all three meetings against Liverpool last season, including a 2-1 win at Anfield, when Andrey Arshavin got the winner. This fixture has produced plenty of goals in recent years – Arshavin netted four times as the sides drew 4-4 in 2009.
