Adrian Chiles is back on the MOTD2 sofa for a new series of the football show that provides the last word on the weekend's Barclays Premier League fixtures. There will be highlights of today's two games, which included Manchester United opening the defence of their title. The Premier League champions hosted newly promoted Birmingham, managed by Alex McLeish, who played under Sir Alex Ferguson in Aberdeen's hugely successful team in the 1980s. Liverpool were Manchester United's closest challengers last season and Rafael Benitez's side kicked off their 2009/10 campaign against Tottenham at White Hart Lane today. Spurs had the better of Liverpool twice last season, once in the Carling Cup and once in the league, when they came from a goal behind to snatch victory with a dramatic last-minute winner from Roman Pavlyuchenko.
