The story is narrated by the books main character, Holden Caulfield, who talks the reader through a couple of days in his sixteen-year-old life, just after he's been expelled from prep school The book was originally published for adults, but became popular with younger readers who could relate to Holdens feelings of confusion and and desire to rebel.
