The Rothwell Temperance Band traces its origins back to 1881 when, after a quarrel over how to spend their money, a group opposed to alcohol left Rothwell Old Band and started the band which still bears its original name. Conducted by David Roberts and presented by Frank Renton, Rothwell Temperance play music especially recorded for the show including scores by the American Bruce Broughton, The Dragason by Holst, Our Love Is Here To Stay by Gershwin and a classic piece of brass band repertoire The Meditation - Just as I am by Wilfred Heaton.
