Jez Nelson presents one of the most anticipated performances of the London Jazz Festival, featuring American saxophonist Charles Lloyd. Mirrors, Lloyd's recent release on the ECM label, has been acclaimed as a highlight of his forty-plus year career. And his new quartet, featuring Jason Moran, one of the premier pianists of his generation, drummer Eric Harland and bassist Reuben Rogers, is possibly Lloyd's finest since his seminal 1960s group with Jack DeJohnette, Keith Jarrett and Cecil McBee. Opening the show is a set from British vocalist Norma Winstone with her European trio featuring German reeds-player Klaus Gesing and Italian pianist Glauco Venier. Performing music from their latest album 'Stories Yet To Tell' the trio weave improvised lines and collective compositions that draw influences far and wide, from medieval ballads to Wayne Shorter.
