Featuring a set recorded at Ronnie Scott's where trumpeter and composer Guy Barker revisits some of the works he has written over the years that reflect his passion for film noir. Barker, the son of a film stuntman, has a passion for story-telling from that period and with his 13-piece band revisits classics such as Underdogs and his celebrated Sounds in Black and White, which recreates the story of the hero, the girl and the villain in classic film noir style. Plus a work by Barker that uses the unique voicing of the Tubax (contra bass baritone saxophone) and the contra bass clarinet. In a pre-concert interview, Barker describes how he voices his characters in the band and how his love of films comes through in his writing.
