Singer Christine Tobin joins Alyn Shipton to pick the best examples of Betty Carter's recorded work, including the albums The Audience with Betty Carter and Feed The Fire, the latter being originally recorded by BBC Radio 3 during a London concert. Carter is considered to be one of the most original singers in jazz, whose sense of time and elastic approach to pitch and harmony gave every song she performed a definite personal touch.
