Alyn Shipton is joined by pianist, writer and historian Brian Priestley to consider the work of Art Tatum, arguably the greatest piano virtuoso in jazz history. They look at Tatum's early solo recordings, so dazzling that many listeners thought two pianists must be playing, and also consider his trios and bands as well as late work from the 1950s, when he worked with such giants as Lionel Hampton and Ben Webster.
