Japanorama

Series 3, Pop Art

Jonathan Ross continues his exploration of all things Japanese. Japanese Pop Art is arguably the most popular and influential art movement in the world today. Jonathan visits the two acknowledged J-Art masters: Takashi Murakami and Yoshitomo Nara, with Murakami overseeing the completion of a massive work at his studio on the Tokyo outskirts. Jonathan also receives a visit from an old mate, Japan’s comedy sensation Hard Gay, who turns out also to be a wild and inventive artist. Plus there are the creators of new cool toy-art: Bounty Hunter, Secret Base and the Bearbrick. Plus, Jonathan butters up the performance artist Toast Girl, battles with the Paper Robot Man, and looks at Japan’s godfather of psychedelic art.
