Melton Mowbray may be the home of the pork pie but it's also one of the few places left in Britain with a special tradition going back five centuries. The parks and markets are not run and paid for by the local council but by another elected body, the Town Estate - a charity. Ever since a woman was elected to a senior position on the Estate it's been mired in controversy. Tony Roe has been back to his home town to find out what's been going on. John Holmes finds out why we're spending millions regenerating our canals.
