Stephen Sackur interviews Melanie Delloye-Betancourt, daughter of Colombian hostage Ingrid Betancourt. For six years Ingrid Betancourt has been held hostage in Colombia by the Marxist rebel group FARC. A presidential candidate in the 2002 election, she is the most prominent of the political hostages they hold. Since her family received a letter from her in December, delivered through intermediaries as a proof of life, they have been concerned she will die if not released soon. Melanie Delloye-Betancourt tells Stephen Sackur that there must be negotiations with the FARC before it's too late for her mother.
