Nine years ago world leaders started negotiating what became known as the Doha round of trade talks. A plan for more than 150 countries to trade freely with each other. The negotiations stalled two years ago and the economic crisis sent the idea of free trade into reverse. As they try to steer their economies towards recovery, governments are now confronted with currency wars, trade imbalances and a euro crisis. Despite this, the EU's Trade Commissioner, Karel de Gucht, tells Sarah Montague that the Doha round of trade talks could be completed next year. Is he right?
