John Kufuor

Ghana, the first African state to gain independence, is preparing for presidential elections at the end of 2008. Outgoing president John Kufuor is credited with transforming the country's economy. As Chairman of the African Union, he was a key player in helping to establish the Kenyan power-sharing process which is now being emulated in Zimbabwe. But can he stem the rise of ethnic tensions in his own country? He talks to Zeinab Badawi.
