These are the worst of times for Gordon Brown. The police are investigating evidence of unlawful activity inside the Labour Party's fundraising machine. Public support for, and trust in the Brown government has plummeted since he toyed with the idea of calling an early election a couple of months ago. Roy Hattersley is a former deputy leader of the party. Stephen Sackur asks him if Mr Brown's premiership is broken beyond repair.
