Coverage from day two of the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. With no Tiger Woods this year, many of his rivals will be harbouring realistic hopes of victory, including a resurgent Lee Westwood, who finished third behind Woods at last month's US Open. Justin Rose is another British contender and he will have cause for optimism after his sensational performance as an amateur the last time the Open was held at Royal Birkdale in 1998. In the second round that year, 17-year-old Rose carded a 66, matching the lowest-ever score for an Open round by an amateur and went on to finish tied for fourth place.
