Gardeners' World presenter and nursery woman Carol Klein has been a passionate gardener all her life, and she has always acknowledged that the opportunities she has enjoyed are a legacy from the many women over the centuries who have fought for the right to garden. In this one-hour narrative journey, Carol looks back at those special women who defied convention in order to follow their passion for horticulture. Her journey includes interviews with some of the most influential gardening figures of the past 50 years, such as Beth Chatto, garden writer and designer; Pam Schwerdt and Sybille Kreutzberger, the first female head gardeners for the National Trust; and Inga Grimsby, the first woman to be appointed head of the Royal Horticultural Society.
