Mark Lawson talks to actor Christopher Plummer, whose film career includes playing widower Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music and an Oscar nomination in 2010 for The Last Station, at the age of 80. As he publishes his new memoir In Spite of Myself he looks back over his long career and the new lease of life he received when Michael Mann cast him in his 1999 whistleblowing thriller The Insider. Writer and former professional cricketer Ed Smith reviews a new film Out of the Ashes, which follows the enthusiastic but inexperienced Afghan cricket team as they attempt the dream of qualifying for the cricket World Cup. Many of the players come from poor backgrounds and learnt the sport in refugee camps on the Pakistani border, so how will the underdogs fare against much more established cricketing nations?
