Alan Bleasdale's new TV drama is The Sinking of the Laconia, about the cruise liner carrying civilians, British soldiers and Italian prisoners of war which was torpedoed 600 miles off the coast of west African by a German U-boat in 1942. Bleasdale discusses the seven-year journey it has taken since he first started researching the incident and the surprising aftermath of the attack which lies at the heart of the story. Russell Crowe and Olivia Wilde star in a thriller about a husband's attempt to free his wife from jail after she is accused of murdering her boss. The Next Three Days is a remake of the French film (Pour Elle) and is directed by Paul Haggis. Writer Dreda Say Mitchell reviews.
