The first four races of the season have pointed to an open championship, and this circuit has not been favoured by any one driver since Michael Schumacher won his sixth Spanish Grand Prix in 2004. Jenson Button became the sixth different winner in as many years on his way to the 2009 drivers' title. Button lapped Lewis Hamilton on his way to victory, but the two Britons are now McLaren team-mates united against the threat of Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes.
