Rural communities across England are to get a right to build. Later today, the Government will announce its plan to give local people the ability to get together and build houses even in areas where local councils have refused planning permission. The idea is proving controversial even before its official. The Campaign to Protect Rural England says bypassing the current planning system isn't the way forward. It comes as Defra announces the abolition of more organisations. The Secretary of State, Caroline Spelman is getting rid of The Agricultural Wages Board, The Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution, The Inland Waterways Advisory Council and is also withdrawing funding from the Sustainable Development Commission. The National Farmers Union has welcomed the demise of the Agricultural Wages Board but the Unite Union says it's a disaster for farming in England and Wales. Presented by Charlotte Smith. Produced by Anna Varle.
