The island of Jersey guards the genetic purity of its cows jealously, to the extent that it completely banned imports to its herd until two years ago. But, as Caz Graham hears, a non-pedigree bull has bred with a hundred of Jersey's cows. Some of the offspring will have to be culled. Evidence that farmers have been using a banned weedkiller. An industry body tasked to improve farming's pollution record says the vast majority are complying with the ban.
