Ben Fogle embarks on an epic South American adventure from the Equator to the Tropic of Capricorn, supported by a team of deserving heroes who help him take on the world's toughest environments. His journey begins in Ecuador, where he leads his team through the Avenue of Volcanoes to the summit of Mount Chimborazo, the closest point to the sun on Earth. One of the team is given the heartbreaking news that they must leave the expedition. It's a severe blow to team morale, but in the unpredictable conditions the team must push on to reach their training camp at 4,600 metres. Firefighter Craig is the backbone of the team but struggles with the arduous route, and the expedition is brought to a halt so that aid worker Vanessa can learn vital survival techniques.
