Explorer Ben Fogle leads a team of deserving heroes on the final leg of his epic South American adventure from the Equator to the Tropic of Capricorn. In this episode, they cross the legendary Atacama Desert in Chile, the driest place on earth. It is a baptism of fire for the team, who must battle crumbling scree slopes and perilous knife edge ridges in the 40-degree heat. It is a nightmare for ex-RAF navigator, Dessie, who is petrified of heights. The team must reach camp to refresh their water supplies but when progress slows and night falls, they must negotiate the hostile terrain in the dark.
