Documentary series. In 1908, French banker and philanthropist Albert Kahn created an 'archive of the planet.' He gave his photographers the world’s first user-friendly colour cameras to document all aspects of life on earth. This series uses the extraordinary film and 72,000 photographs they shot in more than 50 countries to give viewers insight into the early years of the 20th Century. This episode documents the pictures taken in Europe before the First World War.
