When Ronnie’s woken by a contraction, she calmly sets off for the hospital alone telling only Heather that she’s in labour. Discovering her sister’s in labour, Roxy heads straight to the hospital. The two sisters bicker but Roxy’s there for Ronnie as she gives birth to baby James. Jack phones, he’s stuck in Madrid. Roxy buys James a ‘J’ teddy. Ronnie’s missing Jack; Roxy reminds her Jack’s got a whole lifetime to get to know James. Roxy promises she won’t let anything happen to Ronnie; they’re the Mitchell sisters and James is the future. Kat exaggerates her pain, so Mo and Alfie deliberately ignore her. Fed up, Kat stomps off to the barrel store, where her waters break. Eventually, Alfie hears screaming and he, Mo and Charlie rush to Kat. Mo takes charge, telling Alfie to call an ambulance, then delivering Kat’s baby boy, as the pub’s customers peer through from the bar. Alfie’s bought the baby a toy lion, Clarence. Tiffany scribbles Carol’s face out of photos. Connor’s upset because Carol doesn’t want to be seen in public with him. Whitney invites Connor to a grime club for New Year’s Eve. He says no, then softens and agrees to go another night. Tiffany’s horrified when Whitney tells her she and Connor are back on. Carol leads Connor into the bookies; it’s filled with candles. They kiss. Dot’s charity collection isn’t going well. When Heather learns that Dot’s collecting for Mr Bishop’s ‘new organ’, she presumes he needs an organ transplant. Heather persuades everyone in the Vic to give money, and is shamefaced when Edward arrives and explains the collection’s actually for the church organ. Dot’s excited when Ronnie goes into the labour, and is thrilled when Max insists on taking her to the hospital to see Ronnie and James.
