Archie tells Jack he has to persuade Sam to run away, then Phil will lose the money he’s put up for her bail. Jack’s unsure, but persuades Sam to come to his flat that evening. Ricky asks Jack’s advice on women. Later, abandoned by both Janine and Sam, Ricky sits in the pub alone, whilst Sam lies in Jack’s arms. It’s Janine’s birthday. She’s happy when she opens a card from Archie. Ryan thinks Janine would marry Archie if she could, Janine agrees. Ronnie phones Ryan to ask him to work, Ryan pretends the conversation is longer and flirtier than it actually is. Janine and Ryan decide to compete. Janine sets off for the car lot to seduce Archie. He’s not convinced she actually fancies him and they end up talking about love. He asks Janine what she wants for her birthday, she says she’s hoping for the Vic. Ryan finds Ronnie listening to depressing music, they talk but it’s clear Ronnie’s not going to sleep with him. She later gives him the CD she was listening to. Back at the flat Janine and Ryan both pretend they’ve had sex. Ryan suggests they might both be lying, but Janine admits nothing. Ryan gives Janine her birthday present – a raunchy token, but she’s in no hurry to redeem it. Libby thanks Denise for inviting Owen to dinner, she’s decided to cook. Lucas’s surprised to see a photo of Trina in the house, Libby tells him it was Jordan’s idea. Syed tells Christian he only hoped Christian was the blackmailer, because it meant no one else knew about them. Syed receives a text demanding £300 by 1pm the next day. Christian persuades Syed to reply, refusing. Lucy’s annoyed.
