Dot’s stunned to see a seemingly well-groomed and polite Nick. She’s wary of him. He gives her a gift of a hand-carved angel which touches a nerve. Dot remains unwavering as Nick talks of turning over a new leaf. To test him she leaves cash on the table and heads out. She returns, expecting to find the money and Nick gone, but is astounded to see it still there. She begins to believe Nick really has changed and reassumes her motherly role. When it’s revealed that Nick’s read about Dot in the paper, she assumes he’s turned up with ulterior motives and demands he leaves, despite his protests. She hears a female voice upstairs and assumes it to be one of Nick’s floozies. She’s astonished when Nick presents a young girl, Dotty, her granddaughter. Ronnie is in shock at the revelation that Jack is Amy’s father, while Sean is manic in his fury. Ronnie asks Roxy the details of her liaison with Jack. Roxy’s efforts to justify her actions only serve to infuriate Ronnie further. Nick finds a despondent Sean and talks about holding onto your kids. His words strike a chord with Sean, who goes to the Arches and calls Roxy, sounding frantic. He asks her to meet him. Roxy and Archie head out in search of him but to no avail. They return home and Roxy is horrified to find Amy’s cot empty. Phil’s furious to discover the Vic takings gone. Archie plays innocent as Phil blames Suzy. Phil heads out on the warpath, followed by Shirley. Suzy hides from them. Shirley sits in the Vic when Suzy arrives to get Prince. Shirley corners her and to Suzy’s horror, Shirley takes the money from Suzy’s bag and burns it. The two tussle and Suzy leaves.
