Ontelly

EastEnders - 21/09/2010

Realising she’s been traced; a terrified Kat makes to escape but can’t unlock the back door. Outside, the thugs gather baseball bats before re-entering the Slaters’; watched on by a helmeted man on a moped. The thugs break through the door, demanding the return of Frankie’s £40k. Kat is defiant until they threaten Lily. Backed into a corner, she throws the money at Lee, but is interrupted when Alfie enters, claiming to be CID. The thugs make a swift exit. Alfie receives a frosty reception from Kat. His attempts at reconciliation descend into argument about events in Spain and the money. Exasperated by Alfie, Kat opens her coat to reveal a pregnant belly. As Alfie looks on stunned, Kat reveals the baby isn’t his. With George’s christening about to commence, Minty finds himself still stuck on the horns of his dilemma. As Sam waits impatiently in a cab, the christening begins. When asked to renounce the devil, Minty can bear it no longer and runs out. Heather goes after him, only to see Minty and Sam kissing. Heartbroken, Heather beseeches Minty not to leave her. Sam callously tells Heather that Minty never loved her and to accept that she’s second best. When Phil scathingly points out that Minty is simply ‘Mr Right-Now’ for Sam, the truth dawns on a crestfallen Minty and he refuses to leave with her. Furious with Phil for scuppering her plans, Sam leaves. Inconsolable, Heather returns home to find Minty there. Minty offers to stay, but Heather refuses to be second best and tells him to leave. Minty leaves Walford. Unwilling to jeopardise Jodie’s happiness because of her relationship with Max, Vanessa regrets to Max that she’s going back to Harry. Max tries to conceal his disappointment as Vanessa bids him farewell.
