Archie advises Sam against trying to win back Ricky, instead suggesting she leave the country. Sam is reluctant to betray her family who put up her surety money, but Archie insists that she’ll always remain in their debt and never viewed as an equal. Billy overhears and informs the Mitchell’s. Furious, Peggy and Phil bring Sam home. Having tricked Ricky into meeting her, Sam pleads to be given another chance. Ricky relents. Sam returns Archie’s money – she doesn’t need it now. Sam erupts when Peggy later makes a comment that echoes Archie’s earlier assertions about the family’s attitude towards her. When Sam doesn’t arrive at the dance contest, Peggy heads home and finds her gone. Handing her a wad of cash, Archie packs Sam off in a taxi and she leaves the Square. Liz visits Owen in prison. He claims that Libby and Denise are in danger and maintains that Lucas is hiding something. He asks for Liz’s help to prove it. Liz later urges Owen to let the issue lie as she’s been unable to find anything suspicious. Frustrated, Owen tells her that he has an appeal hearing on Monday and then he’ll deal with Lucas himself. Pat urges Bianca to be honest with Ricky about her feelings for him. She’s later gutted to find Sam and Ricky reunited. When Sam is a no-show at the contest, Bianca steps in as Ricky’s partner and they win. Bianca’s joy is short-lived as Peggy informs Ricky that Sam’s gone. Jack scolds Bianca for ruining his chances with Ronnie. But Bianca reveals that Archie spread the rumour. A furious Jack warns Archie to watch his back. Chelsea gets her wires crossed when Al asks her advice on asking Roxy to be his date for the wedding and thinks he’s invited her.
