Shirley persuades the bailiffs to give them another half hour, then lies to Heather, claiming they can stay in the flat. Rainie returns to no 27 with no drugs and no money. Phil’s furious. Rainie insists she knows another supplier – if Phil can get more cash. Phil sneaks in to the Arches and finds the cash box. When Minty and Ricky walk in, Phil threatens them and they lock him in the garage. They find Shirley. Phil tries to break the cashbox open with a spanner. Failing, he gives up and lies on the ground, then starts to cry. Shirley holds him and begs him to try and let her help him. Shirley walks Phil home, passing Heather who’s in the square surrounded by cases. Heather berates her for abandoning them, she thought Shirley loved George. Tears in her eyes, Shirley apologises, Phil needs her. Back at No 27 Shirley throws Rainie out. Phil finds some money, Shirley gives him an ultimatum – it’s her or the drugs. Phil walks out. Ronnie finds Peggy and Glenda arguing, Glenda covers, claiming it’s about something trivial. When Glenda proposes a toast to her girls ‘the most important thing in my world’ Peggy walks out, Glenda follows. Peggy insists she isn’t going to tell Ronnie that Glenda knew about Archie – Glenda is. Glenda gets drunk. Peggy apologises to Ronnie for not being supportive. Panicking, Glenda cuts in and tells Ronnie not to listen to Peggy, she’s twisting things. Ronnie realises that Glenda knew about Archie’s abuse. Roxy comforts her sister. Ronnie confronts Glenda, she wants the truth. Eventually Glenda admits that yes, she did realise something was going on between Ronnie and Archie. Roxy moves out of the flat she’s been sharing with Glenda and returns home to the Vic.
