Billie is fitting in well at the Arches but Minty sees that something is not quite right. Eventually, he confronts Ricky who admits that he cannot afford to keep Billie there. A worried Lucas is trying to control the hubbub as the inhabitants of Walford gather to give their garden a makeover. He manages to keep the diggers away from Trina’s tree until Mo arrives with a metal detector on the hunt for treasure. As the metal detector goes berserk over the tree, Lucas is terrified. He regains his calm, tough, when all Mo uncovers is an old tin foil pie tray. Lucas knows that he is going to have his work cut out for him as he continues to try to keep the soil under the tree untouched. Concerned for their daughter’s well-being, and the health of the child she is carrying, Jane and Ian arrange a meeting with the headmaster of the school, Mr Allcock. She is even more mortified to discover that her teacher will be none other than Ian himself. Trying to impress Shirley, Phil asks Jean to choose some flowers but when he offers the bouquet to his beau, she appears unmoved. Later as they snuggle together, Shirley leans over and rubs the false tattoo from her lover’s skin. The man is alarmed, thinking that he may have ruined his chances, but Shirley simply laughs admitting that he had already won her over with the flowers. Heather is not too happy about the reunion, though, and she warns Phil not to break Shirley’s heart again. As Ronnie stomps home from the auction, she sees a woman waving goodbye to a little girl left on her own. Looking for her father, the girl holds up a photo. It is a face that Ronnie knows well and she walks off with the little girl, hand in hand.
