A sour-faced Shirley starts work in the ice-cream van. Finding that the tires of her van have been let down, Shirley gives up and heads to the Vic, much to Heather’s disappointment. Phil mentions seeing Jack with the drug dealers and talks about the drug game being easy money. Shirley returns home to find Heather has packed up her things in anticipation of being evicted when they’re unable to pay the rent. Heather says she’ll go to her mother’s, but Shirley’s adamant that she wants to look after Heather and the baby. Later Shirley approaches Jack – she’s heard about the drug dealing and she wants in. Ryan and Janine conspire about their plan to take the Vic for themselves. Janine probes Archie about the hospital phone call, but he’s guarded. Concerned, Janine later tries to reach out to him by opening up about her father’s cancer. Archie tells her he got the all-clear. Janine is moved, but later returning to Ryan, she claims that Archie is a sad case ‘just ripe for the picking’. Bianca is livid on hearing that Sam will be moving in with them, and gives her a hostile reception. Owen agrees to take Sugar on for Abi. Liz’s fears that Pat has informed Patrick are confirmed when he arrives and angrily berates Owen. Owen’s adamant that he’s changed and wants to make amends, but Patrick remains resolute; Owen can never make amends for trying to kill Libby. Patrick gives Owen 24 hours to leave the Square before he calls the police. When an irate Liz launches into a rant about Patrick, Owen angrily flares up, leaving her terrified. Masood informs Syed that he’s leaving for Pakistan tomorrow. Seeing his mother distraught, Syed decides he must intervene. Having been manipulated into having dinner together, Masood and Zainab reunite.
