Patrick’s puzzled by Liz’s behaviour and relays his concerns to Pat. Meanwhile, Liz sits comforting a guilt-ridden Owen who’s coming to terms with his actions and his alcoholism. Liz sneaks Owen into Dot’s, but Pat’s there. Aware that Owen shouldn’t be on the Square, Pat advises Liz to get rid of him. Liz is protective and says that Owen needs her in order to stay sober. Pat’s dubious to hear that Jim’s asked Owen back to do the decorating. With Pat having realised why Liz gave Patrick the brush off, Liz implores her not to tell him that Owen’s back. Liz freezes as she later spots Pat talking with Patrick on the Square. Has she told him? Phil throws some drug dealers out of the Vic. With plumbing problems at the club, Jack’s forced to ask Phil if he can hold a party at the Vic. Phil agrees, but at an extortionate price. Seeing through Phil’s ruse to antagonise him, Jack declines. Later hearing that Jack’s offered Sam a job at the club, Phil tries to renege on his earlier offer, saying Jack can have the Vic for free provided he tells Sam she can’t have the job. Jack refuses. Phil gives Sam an ultimatum: decline the job or leave the Vic. Sam informs them that she’s moving in with Ricky. Phil’s intrigued to see the druggies from earlier talking with Jack. In need of a job, Shirley seeks out both Phil and Jack for work, but to no avail. She resorts to taking Darren up on his ice-cream van offer. Sam asks Janine to be her chief bridesmaid. Archie thinks it’s the perfect opportunity to put their plan into action. He senses Janine’s unease but she assures him she’s not wavering. Archie takes a call from the hospital.
