Libby and Chelsea struggle to come to terms with the prospect that their mother may be guilty. They’re shocked when the police bring news of the body found in the canal and further horrified when they’re informed that someone will need to identify it. Chelsea accompanies Lucas to the morgue. Chelsea waits outside as Lucas heads in. As the sheet is pulled back from the body, Lucas breaks down and sobs: “It’s her”. As Phil puts the wheels in motion for their escape, Ben is reluctant to leave. At the Vic, Ben’s downcast at the news of Ronnie’s wedding; knowing that he won’t be there. Phil tries to impress upon Ben that leaving is the best option, but Ben remains torn. Shirley’s left devastated when Phil lies about going out for the evening with the kids. Phil bundles the protesting children into the car and makes to leave but is stopped by Peggy. She reprimands him for running away and urges him to stay and face things. With her words having hit home, Phil relents and stays. Shirley leaves. Having realised Shirley informed Peggy, Ben thanks her. Pleading with her to come home, he claims he won’t get through prison without her. Shirley’s left torn. The Beales and Masoods go head to head to bid for Christian’s share in Masala Queen. Unwilling to concede defeat; both parties up their bids, until eventually Ian outbids them. Christian’s touched on realising that Syed pushed the bidding up intentionally to ensure he got the best price. Abi feels for Darren being homeless and implores Max to let him stay. Max concedes that Darren can stay provided he pays rent. Needing to set aside his remaining money for George, Darren’s unable to stump up the cash. Impressed by this, Carol lets him stay.
