When Ryan doesn’t immediately accept her proposal, Janine backtracks and pretends it was a joke. Whitney thinks that, if Janine’s worth the risk, Ryan should tell her he wants to marry her. Ryan starts to think he should break up with Janine, but Whitney make him see that his real problem is that he doesn’t think he’s worth the risk. Tiffany returns the cheap ring to Ryan. He retreats to the pub, where Pat tells him how alike he and Janine are. Ryan finds Janine in the square, he proposes and Janine accepts. Shirley tells Peggy that Phil’s been partying with some tart. Shirley and Heather leave Minty to babysit – George and the flat. Upset about Phil, Shirley propositions the waiter at the Argee Bhajee. Later drunk, she sits in the gutter outside the flat and propositions Minty. Minty and Heather help her inside. A prospective buyer Ken, comes to see the Vic. He’s not fooled by Pat and Peggy’s fake ledgers. Peggy’s worried when she discover Ken’s from a big brewery, they might turn the Vic into a theme pub, but Pat thinks it’s Peggy’s best chance to stay on as landlady. Ken flatters Peggy and she’s thrilled when he presumes Glenda’s a prostitute. Jack tells Max if he can’t walk before the wedding, there isn’t going to be one. Max starts to taunt his brother, refusing to help him, hitting him with his walking stick and pouring juice over his crotch. Jack snaps and tells Max to back off, Max challenges Jack to get up and hit him. Max’s plan works – slowly, and with great effort, Jack stands up and starts to walk. Carol becomes more and more convinced that Bianca’s having an affair.
