Jack’s been put into a medically induced coma. Carol tries to dissuade Billie from joining the army, reminding him of a woman they knew whose son was injured, and Billie’s great grandfather who was a soldier and died at just twenty. When this fails, she tries to argue that the current war is all about oil. However hard she tries, Billie just argues back and refuses to change his mind. Whitney’s also unhappy about Billie’s decision to join the army, but Bianca’s proud of her brother. Peggy decides to show Billie some support, with a banner and free pint. Carol’s furious and rips down the banner. Billie turns on his Mum and tells her the real reason he’s joining up is to get away from her. Zainab decides they should take a family portrait with Tamwar’s fancy new camera. Zainab’s intrigued when Amira receives a letter. Amira winds up Zainab by leaving the envelope where Zainab will find it with a note inside suggesting whoever reads it should learn to mind their own business. Just as the family photo’s about to be taken Amira casually mentions that the letter was from her father and he also sent a cheque for £5000. Zainab’s horrified when Amira reveals that she and Syed are going to use the money to move out and set up home on their own. Shirley questions Ben and Zsa Zsa about the broken microwave. Zsa Zsa finds a wrapped chocolate bunny on the doorstep. Leon wants to know who sent the bunny and asks Ben. Leon brings Zsa Zsa tulips, he hasn’t quite got the hang of romance, and she soon slams the door in his face.
