Amy has a torn lung and Sean suggests she’s christened in case she doesn’t survive. Ronnie’s supportive but Roxy’s too preoccupied with feelings of guilt to accept comfort. As Amy has her operation, Roxy can’t bear it and runs home. Phil goes to find her and asks Shirley to assist in talking Roxy around. Shirley warns Roxy not to make the same mistakes she did. Roxy sees sense and returns to hospital. Amy’s operation has been a success and she’ll be okay. Jack arrives at the hospital and asks Roxy for a paternity test to determine if he’s Amy’s father. Tanya receives a visitor at the prison - Jane. The appointment Jack made was to visit Jim, who is overjoyed to see his son. Jack fills him in on news from the family, but he eventually bursts and tells of his life falling apart: Tanya’s dumped him, Penny’s getting a new dad. He blames Jim for always instilling a sense of rivalry and animosity between him and Max and fears he’ll become the same. Jim says he changed. Jack leaves in despair. Suzy tells Phil she wants to keep the baby and it’s up to Phil if he wants to stay with her. Shirley is distraught at the news. She offers Phil a shoulder to cry on but he snubs her. Phil goes to see Shirley to thank her for talking to Roxy. He begins to ask her something and Shirley is hopeful, but is deflated when he simply offers her job back. Phil goes to see Suzy and they embrace. Ian tricks Lucy and Peter into competing in a debate to decide which of them gets to have a birthday party. Lucy wins, but Ian reveals that there will be no party because he can’t afford it.
