Nick Knowles and the team recruit extra help from the local community to renovate a whole house and transform the life of a family who've spent years living in a building site. The team visits a single mum and her three children in Haydock, near Liverpool. With their sitting room resembling a shell, Lorraine and her children have nowhere to hang out together. Every evening, the children disappear to their bedrooms leaving Lorraine to study for her social work degree in the cold and draughty lounge. The family move out thinking that the team are coming to makeover the sitting room. Unbeknownst to them, more than forty local trades people, friends and family all pitch in to transform the ugliest house in the street into a home fit for a hard working, deserving family.
